Mr John Shannon Visit

This year, we had a very special visitor. Mr John Shannon, the first head teacher of Pyrgo, was the guest of honour at our KS1 Nativity and Y5/6 concert. Having opened the school back in 1952, he had many compelling tales to impart including the time when the school burnt down, and graced both events with inspirational speeches to the children and audience in attendance. A tour of the school and conversations with many of the staff and children brought back many happy memories for Mr Shannon who has now surpassed the age of 100 years. It was a pleasure to meet him and his son, John, and would like to extend our thanks to them both for making the visit and for the generous gift of a commemorative cup.
