House Teams

At Drapers’ Pyrgo Priory pupils belong to one of four houses and work as a team to collect house points. This system aims to encourage a sense of pride and achievement and fosters community spirit.

Our Houses are named after local Country Parks to recognise our school’s natural historic past: Thorndon, Weald, Manor and Bedford. Each class is named after a British Tree and the idea is that pupils from different trees then join to form a House Team in the same way that many trees exist in a Country Park.

Every week, house points are collected by the Year 6 House Captains and a weekly winner is announced during Friday’s celebration assembly. The winners have their colour ribbon tied to the House Trophy which is displayed in the Foyer for visitors to view. Pupils also take part in various competitions each year and trophies are awarded to the winning House.

School Council

Pupils have the opportunity to stand for election to the Drapers’ Pyrgo Priory School Council. Each team, one boy and one girl, from Years 1 – 6 are chosen by their classmates to represent the school. In Reception, all pupils have the opportunity to attend a meeting to offer their views and begin to understand the School Council process before they finish their first year of school. Through the School Council and then Class Council Meetings children have the opportunity to suggest projects, ideas and improvements for Drapers’ Pyrgo Priory Primary School. The children are involved as part of the community of the school and have the chance to develop good citizenship skills through debate, discussion and reflection. School Councillors are also WE Ambassadors raising awareness of a school, local and global issue each year. Councillors in KS2 are invited to attend the WE Day Event each year held at the Wembley Arena.
