Nursery Open Days

Nursery Times

A day in Nursery - please see below

8.30 - 12.15

 

Children are dropped off at the Nursery door.

Children hang up their coat and walk into Nursery where they are greeted by one of the Teaching Assistants.

The teacher will remain at the door for parents/carers to pass on brief messages or ask questions.

8:30 – 9.00
12.15-12.45

 

 

Children must be in school by 8:40.

Nursery door is closed at 8:45.

Children arriving later than this must be taken to the office at the front of school to register and order their lunch (if applicable).

9.00
12.45

 

Whole group carpet session. This will usually focus the Prime Areas of Learning, which includes: Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development activities.

 

9.15-11.00
13.00-2.45

 

Children have the time to ‘Open Learn’ and can select from a range of areas to play in. Learning takes place both indoors and outdoors in all weather.

The indoor setting includes a core set of areas: water play, sand play, mark making, maths area, reading, creative, malleable, home corner, construction, small world and snack.

The outdoor setting also includes a core set of areas: water play, sand play, mark making, maths, trikes and cars, mud kitchen, construction, garden and Forest School area.

During ‘Open Learning’ the adults work with focus children and small groups of children ensuring that they are challenged and make progress in their learning through ‘Planning in the moment’.

11.00 - 2.45
11.30 - 3.15

 

Children tidy up at the end of ‘Open Learning’ and make sure it is set-up for the next session.

Nursery finishes the session with a story, song or game

Home time for children staying one session a day.

Children staying all day get ready for lunch by going to the toilet and washing their hands.

11.30-12.15

Children are seated at tables in the Nursery. Mid-day assistants stay with the children during lunch time, serving them food and encouraging good table manners. After finishing lunches children take part in various games and activities led by the Mid-day assistants.

Lunch time children join the afternoon session.

During ‘Open Learning’ the adults work with focus children and small groups of children ensuring that they are challenged and make progress in their learning through ‘Planning in the moment’.

Adult led fun activities, such as Yoga, mindfulness, gardening, dance and music, creative activities and much more.

During ‘Open Learning’ the adults work with focus children and small groups of children ensuring that they are challenged and make progress in their learning through ‘Planning in the moment’.
